You should always go into a RP with a story for your character. No matter if it’s a canon RP, OC RP, whatever, you should have a general idea for what you want your character to be, what you want your character to struggle with, and what you want your character to overcome. 

If you do that, you’re never bored. You’re never waiting for other people to come along and talk to you. You can self para, post pictures, plot with yourself…make a story.
